Fr. Vincent O'Toole, CSSp.

Fr. Vin was born in Wallasey and brought up in Cambridge. After his national service in the Royal Navy he joined the Holy Ghost Fathers and entered the novitiate in France.

After his ordination and studies in Rome and Dublin, he joined the teaching staff at the seminary in Castlehead from 1964 -1970 when he was appointed to the mission in Nigeria. With his great attention to details and sense of the Big Picture he was appointed superior of the Spiritans of Makurdi District, Nigeria from 1976 -1983. Thereafter, he returned to the UK to serve as the director of Student Formation in Hendon. In 1988 he was elected superior of the British Province until 1994.

He then went to Rome, as Assistant General Archivist of the Congregation. When the archives were transferred to Paris in 2005, Vincent moved too to Paris. In 2008 he left Paris for Bickley where he continues to serve the community and offer language translation services, from French to English, for the Congregation’s international needs.
