In these days when missionary societies see a decline in the numbers of missionaries coming from Europe and North America, the Spiritans are experiencing a renewed growth in membership through an increase in vocations to the missionary life from our foundations in Africa and South America. A new generation of missionaries is now available to the church. The cost of training these missionaries and supporting them, wherever the Church wishes to send them, is a heavy financial burden. Our Priests Training Fund which takes the form of a lottery provides for this need. If you wish to support is in this way, use the forms attached or write to contact The Promoter, Holy Ghost Fathers, 6 Woodlands Road, Bickley, BROMLEY BR1 2AF or e-mail spiritans-bickley@tiscali.co.uk with your name and address
Four times a year the English Province of the Holy Ghost Fathers publishes a magazine illustrating contemporary missionary work of the Church and news of the particular projects of the English Province of the Holy Ghost Fathers. If you would like to subscribe to this magazine, which costs five pounds (£5.00) per annum, contact The Promoter, Holy Ghost Fathers, 6 Woodlands Road, Bickley, BROMLEY BR1 2AF or e-mail spiritans-bickley@tiscali.co.uk with your name and address and the subscription.
The success of the mission of the Church depends upon the faith of the Church and that faith is most surely manifest in the prayer of the faithful. Each yea, at Pentecost and during the month of November, the faithful are invited to send to us their petitions for inclusion in the Pentecost Novena and the November Month of Remembrance. Details of these are published in our magazine Missionwide or can be obtained from contact The Promoter, Holy Ghost Fathers, 6 Woodlands Road, Bickley, BROMLEY BR1 2AF or e-mail us, with your name and address and your intentions, at spiritans-bickley@tiscali.co.uk The Holy Ghost Fathers are also prepared to offer Mass for the intentions of those who send in Mass Offerings.
At any one time the Spiritans in England may be supporting special projects of immediate need in which Spiritans are involved. At the present time the Spiritans from ten different countries working in Malawi are trying to support the many people of that country who are facing starvation because of the prevailing famine. The ongoing effects of civil war in Central Africa still requires the efforts of our missionaries from the East African Province who are coping with the needs of refugees living in camps in Tanzania, Congo and Rwanda. Refugees have fled from war situations in Africa, the Middle East and Europe and have sought asylum in this country. Our Revive team in Manchester is there to offer welcome and support for these people who are often lonely and traumatised. We are always in need of practical and financial support for Spiritans working in these situations. |
