The Kairos community project was founded by Father John Kitchen and since its beginning over twelve year ago has helped countless numbers of men and women beset with problems arising form alcoholism, drug addiction and homelessness. It has as its mission to help homeless people who want to recover from alcoholism and other addictions. The strategy that it uses to do this to is provide a roof over their head and a structured therapy programme so that people can regain control of their lives and contribute to the lives of others. Consequently in the Kairos community they always try t maintain the caring, relaxed, supportive and homely environment in which people can recover. The Project runs a detox centre in Peckham and a rehabilitation centre in Camberwell. There are eleven move-on house throughout South London to which those who have been through the Kairos programme can go to find the support and encouragement they need to sustain their recovery.
